What a big week at TPS

Mr Hogan

This week is Education Week. It has been a great opportunity to showcase our fantastic school and all the great things we do here. We provide a wide and varied curriculum to our students, and love to offer them amazing learning opportunities, both in and out of the classroom.

Education Week

We have loved celebrating Education Week, with so many wonderful learning activities taking place across the school. These have included:

  • Grade 3/4 excursion to Barmah State Forest and Kyabram Fauna Park.
  • Whole school story writing competition.
  • Planting of our winter crops in the Environmental Garden
  • Lego Club running during lunchtime
  • Students going to GTS to assist in their deliveries and stocktake
  • Charlie visiting the Aged Care home to meet the residents with our Grade 2 students.
  • 0/1A visiting Country Kids to spend some time with their Kinder students.
  • A whole school STEM day, where students took part in 7 different experiments across the day.
  • Commencement of our Instrumental Music program with Dillmac.
  • A team of runners heading off to the Inter school Cross Country event in Moama.

It has been an amazing week as we have celebrated all things that are great about being a student at Tongala Primary School.

Mother's Day

We hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day last Sunday. It was fabulous to welcome so many families to our Mother's Day afternoon tea last Thursday afternoon.

Unfortunately, the rain meant we had to have a change of location, which was not ideal but it was still a great chance to spend some time with loved ones, and enjoy a bite to eat, a massage, maybe some nail painting and a special photo in the Mother's Day photo booth.

New toilets

We are all set to open our new toilet block in the coming week. This is a great new addition to our school, which will be very convenient during recess and lunch time, and for our junior students, as they will no longer need to go around the other side of the building to go to the toilets.

Community Projects

We love being part of our community, and our students really benefit from their involvement in the local community.

Our Grade 2 partnership with the Aged Care home continues to grow each week. Our students love visiting every Tuesday, and the residents really look forward to connecting with our students.

We are also taking some Grade 5/6 students down to GTS on a Thursday morning to assist Jordan and Paige with their deliveries. The students are loving this opportunity and have been working hard to assist them in the shop.

This week, our students in 01A visited Country Kids, with more visits to come, plus visiting the local Kindergarten and Cottage.

We are also about to start taking students to the Senior Citizens Club to assist with the Wednesday lunch.

These are just a few ways our students are helping and learning in the community.

2025 Enrolments

It was great to be able to show around a number of families this week, who are looking to enrol their child in Prep next year.

Enrolments are now open for 2025, and we hope to have our projected Prep numbers by the end of term.

If you, or someone you know would like to enrol for next year, or would like to have a tour of our great school, please contact the office.

Sports Achievements

Congratulations to Ella F, who represented our school at the state finals of the tennis in Melbourne. As a Grade 4 student, this was an amazing achievement and we are all very proud of her.

Today we took over 20 runners to Moama to compete in the Inter school cross country. Keep an eye of Facebook for photos, but I am pleased to say that we have 6 runners who have qualified for the Regional Cross Country in St.Arnaud.

Congratulations to:

Tilly F - 1st

Ella F - 2nd

Tippi H - 7th

Ava B - 8th

Ella H - 9th

Rubi E - 11th.

Next Tuesday, we have 3 soccer teams heading to the Soccer tournament, followed by 3 Netball teams competing on May 31st.

On top of this, we already have our Girls Team Tennis and 2 Lawn Bowls teams who have qualified for the regional finals to be held later in the year.

Compass

Please remember that Compass is our school management system, and there is lots of information going out at the moment. It is a really good idea to turn your notifications on for Compass, so you can get the information you need immediately.

There is lots of events coming up, such as the whole school performance - Live from the Larynx, the F-2 Fauna Park excursion and upcoming Netball tournament for our 5/6 students.

Any Compass issues, please speak to Karen in the office.

Have a great week everyone

Rob
