Year 8 Update

Study skills

We are now truly in the midst of Term 2! How it is flying by!

In Week 4 the Year 7 and 8 students enjoyed their incursion run by a wonderful instructor from Toolbox Education. The session was a chance for the students to think about ways to reframe our thinking. It is common for us to get stuck in a repeated pattern of thoughts which can be unhelpful or untrue. The helpful tips presented allowed the students to practise ways to identify the types of thoughts we have and examine them in a healthy and critical way.

As part of the Year 8 Wellbeing Program, a key aim is to provide the Year 8s with knowledge and skills that will prepare them well in their future school journey. As well as being their coordinator, I have the privilege to teach each of the girls, this means I have been able to incorporate their feedback with identified key areas of growth. One of those skillsets includes studying tips and tricks. Starting this week, the cohort will participate in sessions facilitated by myself and Ms Whelan which are designed to target and develop their study skills.

You may like to have a conversation with your daughter about how she will implement this new knowledge into her learning and studying routine.

Stay warm and well.
