As we journey through the semester, managing assessment workload becomes a shared focus for students across Year 7 to 12. With various assessments on the horizon, it's important for students to adopt effective strategies to navigate this demanding period successfully. Our students are well supported during this time by their Year Level Coordinators, Counselling Team and teachers with offers of guidance on time management, study techniques, and stress management, ensuring that students feel equipped to tackle their workload with confidence. Additionally, emphasising the importance of seeking help when needed and maintaining a healthy balance between academic commitments and personal well-being remains a priority.
If you would like to seek further assistance on ‘finding the balance’ we encourage you to reach out at any stage.
This year, each Senior School student has received a memory book in which to record their treasured Shelford memories. Each term we gather in groups to take time to pause and reflect on our Shelford journey, allowing students the opportunity to take stock of both their past and present. In Terms 1 & 2 we have gathered in whole school House groups, enabling our students to mingle and work with each other during this time. Our first session introduced the purpose of the books and encouraged our students to remember their earliest memory of Shelford – their very first day! The following can be found in the front of each student's memory book.
This term our themes are ‘My moments in the Spotlight’ and ‘My House is also a home’. We look forward to continuing to work with our students as they continue to reflect on their time at Shelford and begin to think of themselves as Shelfordians.
May is Brain Cancer Awareness month. It’s a time we can show our support for the fighters, admire the survivors, honour the taken, and never give up hope. Wearing grey in May also helps raise awareness for brain cancer treatment and research.
On Wednesday 29 May all Senior School students are invited to wear grey clothing and donate to brain cancer research. On the day our students will be greeted at the school gate by our Parliamentarians who will be collecting gold coin donations.
As the temperature drops and winter inches nearer, we notice that some of our students are becoming affected by colds, flus or Covid. To support them and invest in their recovery, we encourage students to stay home and rest if needed. The teachers will assist students to catch up tasks or will amend assessments as required. We also recommend the continuance of prevention behaviours such as considering vaccinating against flu/Covid, washing hands and wearing face masks.
