Grade 2 Connect

WOW! Two more weeks of Term 2 and holidays again! We were very impressed with the way the Grade 2 students represented Skye PS at Casey Race last week for our swimming program. They listened attentively, followed instructions and had an absolute blast (even though the water was a bit chilly...)!! Thank you to those parents who came along to help...many hands make light work, and we appreciate the support.

Enjoy your weekend,

Hailee, Krystal, Maddy and Emma

  • Learning starts promptly in the morning. Please remember to take/remind your child to use the toilet before the 8.45am bell so nothing important is missed.
  • Please be mindful that mornings are a time filled with lesson prepping, staff collaboration and preparation for the day. We are always happy to schedule meetings with parents and guardians on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, alternatively feel free to email us with any questions, comments or concerns.

Upcoming Learning

In Literacy, we will be continue reviewing taught sounds from Term 1 and 2 as revision enables students to consolidate and develop deeper understandings. We will be going through the writing process to improve our narratives and then will be move into our Olympics Unit, focusing on letter writing.

In Maths, students will continue working on their fluency and problem solving through games and open-ended tasks. Like in Literacy, we will be exploring the Maths involved in the Olympic Games! Don't forget to check out some fun, maths games on the Love Maths website.

In Inquiry, students thoroughly enjoyed our Grade 2 Science Day! The classrooms were taken over by budding scientists exploring biology, physics, chemistry and earth and space science. Check out some photos below...

In Wellbeing, students have been developing and finishing off their Ready to Learn Plans which we look forward to sharing with you at our upcoming Parent Teacher Interviews. A big part of these plans is the students identifying the de-escalation strategies that work for them. Some of these are 'calmers' (when students need to calm themselves/do something quiet) and others are 'energisers' (for when students are feeling flat and need a boost of energy). These are consistent across the Grade 2 cohort, see the Menu of De-escalation Strategies students selected from below! These may be useful at home as well as we known consistent, predictable routines make things easier for children.
