Educational Webinars for Parents
It was encouraging to see the large number of parents taking the time to register for the latest webinar from our Wellio providers on “Phones & Social Media”. If you missed this and would like to view the recording, the link has been placed on MyBMGS for you and can be located in Senior School, Wellbeing, Parent Education.
This particular webinar covered:
🤳 Reality vs Social Media – We discuss how students compare their lives with what they see on social media and the impact this has on their self-esteem. We give you 3 simple strategies to keep them on track.
🛌 Technology and Sleep – 73% of teenagers aren't getting enough sleep and their devices are a primary cause. We explain how you can limit the impact.
🧰 Techniques to manage anxiety – A toolkit of strategies that you can use to help your child manage and prevent anxiety.
Future webinars this year are:
• Thursday 29th August 6:30pm - Building Healthy Relationships
• Thursday 31st October 6:30pm - Resilience & Setbacks
Notification of these will be placed on MyBMGS and you will receive a prompt to look for the link.
Wellbeing Program
As I write, the Wellbeing program is focusing upon inclusion and diversity in our School. This is in line with our commitment to be an inclusive school. Students will look at a range of sub-topics under the heading of inclusion. There will be an emphasis on classroom inclusion; an act that can only be achieved if everyone in the room is respected and provided with equal opportunity.
No institution is without its bias or social friction, however, when a school can acknowledge these issues and work to do right by all children they are truly inclusive. This is one key aspect being addressed this term by gaining an understanding of the context behind differences.
Our School provides opportunities for the students to witness a range of contexts through our contact with groups such as Greystanes, Junction 142 and Anglicare. We also celebrate differences using a range of topical “days” throughout the year.
