Foundation News
The learning is really coming together in Foundation - we have had over 50 days at school and students are beginning to read short texts and are writing sentences that include a, ‘Who’, ‘what doing’, ‘what’ and ‘where’.
It is very exciting to consider how far our students have come since the beginning of the year.
This is a busy time for Foundation - with a visit from the firefighters today - we will include some photos in the next newsletter.
There is also a Foundation liturgy on this Wednesday 15th at 12 pm with all invited.
And we also look forward to the Fun Run next Friday the 24th - again please come and join us to support you child.
In Literacy we continue to look at the sounds that letters make and have been trying to sound out words in both reading and writing.
The students are recognising more and more high frequency words (HFW) and have been using this knowledge to help them read short texts.
They are so excited when they find a word they know in our big books and enjoy sharing their knowledge with each other!
In Mathematics, we are learning about Location, and have been using the playground and book called, ‘Rosie’s Walk’ to help learn about terms such as above, in, below, on, inside, beneath, outside and under etc.
You can encourage your child’s understanding of these by using them in context at home or getting them to show you with their toys/teddies.
In Religion we continue to learn about the topic I am Special So Are You, we are looking at our gifts and celebrating our uniqueness.
We congratulate last weeks Bernie trophy winners Foundation Everitt and all award recipients.
