Year 7 & 8 SMR Cricket

A big congratulations to the Year 7 and Year 8 Cricket teams who competed in the Regional round robin on Wednesday 11 October. Both teams had a fantastic day in the sunshine, plus managed to achieve a few wins each. A big thank you to Lisa Wintle and Diana Gilbert for taking the teams out. Student reports below.

Year 7 Cricket

On Wednesday 11 October the Year 7 Cricket final took place. The team played three matches - won the first, lost the second and won the last round. Everyone did a really good job and tried very hard and were able to hit some sixes. Our Cricket captain Arty was able to hit the most number of sixes and helped her team win.

We are very grateful for everyone who showed up and to all the umpires to help throughout the day.  Thank you to Ms Gilbert and Year 10 coaches Stella Porter and Poppy Davey.

Well done to our very hard working cricket players:   Abby Ayyuce, Joey Bennett, Hannah Burke, Anaiya Caffrey, Sam Holmes, Letitia Kovacs, Emma Nurse, Sophie Powell, Arty Sartitsis, Cassie Servadei, Ash Soni.

Year 8 Cricket

Also on 11 October, 11 Year 8 students  participated in the SMR Cricket Finals.

Shout out to Imogen for getting 20 runs off two balls and another shout out to Zoe for still managing to catch the cricket ball whilst daydreaming. Despite the fact that some of us hadn’t played before, we all played really well and worked together to win ⅗ games. Leila ate an ice cream in under a minute so we could get on the Bus and Charlotte went off with a stomach ache during our second game but she pushed through like a trooper. Sienna jumped over the fence to retrieve all of the sixes that the other team batted and Brooke had the world's longest cheer closely followed by Stella who rolled across the grass after diving to catch the ball. Despite being short, Isla managed to pull together some great runs and really contributed to the team. Nicole showed gradual improvement when batting despite her inexperience and Willow did some very delectable bowling.

Bridie was there too.

We do our best to include as many students as possible into the program.
