Ocean and Space School
Ocean School
During the September school holidays I had the amazing opportunity to attend the CASE Senior Ocean School program. We covered three locations including Sydney, Townsville and Cairns.
Throughout the program we completed various practical and learning based activities that extended our knowledge and understanding of the oceans in Australia; such as snorkelling, field studies and university/ lab tours. I most enjoyed the time spent in Cairns as we were able to snorkel the great barrier reef and green island while taking a closer look at the various management strategies in place to help conserve the reefs and ecosystem.
Another highlight included visiting the Daintree rainforest, as we were able to attend an indigenous dance presentation and immerse ourselves in the rich culture. During the trip I was able to make so many connections with students from various different schools and even countries, while also developing my passion for the ocean and inspiring me.

Case Space School Scholarship
Congratulations to Grace Zhu (Year 11) who has received a full scholarship to CASE Space School in 2024. Grace’s commitment to studies, curiosity for space exploration now and into the future contributed to her successful submission. She is one of only three students across Australia to receive the scholarship.
Three scholarship places were generously funded by the California Association of STEAM Education (CASE) as part of the organisation’s aim to offer students the highest standard of STEAM learning, collaboratively and globally.
