Grade 1 Area

The grade 1's have really enjoyed our new and engaging way of teaching maths. We now have a focus on number fluency at the beginning of each lesson where students work on automatic recall of number facts through fun and exciting games.

We have also introduced a new teaching model which is aimed at providing students more opportunities to develop their problem-solving and reasoning skills. Students are frequently in the 'learning pit', however as the weeks have progressed we have seen that the students are beginning to develop persistence and are more willing to have a go at answering a focus 'launch' question. 

We are so proud of how the grade 1's have taken on board this new way of learning maths!

Over the last 2 weeks, our topics have been solving addition and subtraction worded problems and capacity.
