Foundation Swimming Program

Each Wednesday our Foundation students have their swimming lessons at Heather’s Swim School. Children are reminded that they need swimming bathers, a towel and goggles (all clearly labelled). Children may wear their sports uniform each Wednesday for the swimming program (please also label each item, you would be surprised how many children have the same shoes with the same size etc).

Swimming times are as follows: 11:30am – 12:00 noon FME, 12:00 noon – 12:30pm FSN, 12:30pm – 1:00pm FHE.

Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help out with the swimming program by walking the children to and from their swimming lesson.  Just a reminder that all helpers need to have a Working With Children Check and the school needs to have a copy. The volunteer roster has been sent home with their child. Please let me know if you did not receive your roster.

Greater Western Athletics

Well done to all the Sacred Heart students who represented the Colac Division and competed at the Greater Western Athletics last Friday at the Ballarat Athletics. Our students did very well in their events. A big thank you to Anne Cunningham for all her help on the day.

Congratulations to Regan Smart who came 2nd in the 100m and 200m. Congratulations also to Zoe Medley, Phoebe Robb, Jemma Howat and Regan Smart who came 2nd in the relay. These girls will now compete at the State Track and Field Championships on 1st November at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park. We wish them all the best.

Colac Division Basketball

Well done to the students who represented Sacred Heart at the Colac Division Basketball Tournament yesterday at Bluewater stadium. The boys were just beaten in the Grandfinal in a great game of basketball and the girls team did very well and made it to the preliminary finals.

A big thank you to the students, who were called in (at very late notice) to help out the Polwarth basketball teams. They were very grateful for the help.

Basketball Round Robin

Thanks to all the boys and girls who trialed for our Sacred Heart basketball teams. The girls were lucky to all receive a game, but unfortunately due to the large number of boys, many missed out on this opportunity. We have decided to run a small round robin basketball tournament with St Mary’s. This will take place on Friday 27th October from 11:45am to 1:15pm. Students will travel by bus to St Mary’s.

(Please complete Permission details on PAM for your child)

Colac Golf Tournament

The Colac Division Golf Tournament will take place on Thursday 26th October (this is the correct date) at the Colac Golf Club. This event will commence at 9:15am and finish at approximately 1:15pm. Students will travel by bus to this event. This is open to all students in Year 5 and 6 who enjoy the game of golf and feel like they would enjoy playing a modified 9 course game of golf. Students who enter the competition must have an adult to walk around the course with them. The adult responsibilities include safety, etiquette and scoring where necessary.  Please Note: We must have 1 adult to every 3 children, so you may be able to make an arrangement with friends. These helpers must have a current Working With Children Check. Interested students can collect the Colac SSV Primary Golf information forms at the school gym. Please register online (which is now open) and return the extra required information back to school a.s.a.p. There is no cost for the golf tournament.

PS. Students who have handed in their forms, I have completed their online registration.
