The Visual Art, Drama and FTV departments have the pleasure of inviting all to our Graduate Arts Evening on Monday 16 October, commencing at 6:00pm in the Draney Theatre. The evening is a celebration of the hard work and dedication of our graduating Arts students and will commence in the foyer with an exhibition of artworks by Year 11 and 12 Visual Art students, followed by a presentation in the Theatre. Light refreshments will be served. All in our Marist community are welcome.

We congratulate our September artwork of the month recipient, Year 10 student, Van Sanders, for his street art-inspired acrylic and mixed media on canvas painting which he further developed into an animation and soundscape.

Year 11 Visual Art students began work on their first internal assessment this week, spending a lesson down by Enoggera Creek to absorb the sights and sounds of the natural environment and develop a number of experimental studies of their surrounds. This will lead to a full-day excursion in Week 3 to various points of interest along the Bramble Bay coastline and tributaries of the Brisbane River including Shorncliffe foreshore, Boondall Wetlands, Nudgee Cemetery, South Brisbane, Gallery of Modern Art and concluding at Enoggera Reservoir. Students will develop an inquiry question based on a specific area of interest drawn from this day, which they will further develop into a body of work for their second internal assessment.

We again would like to acknowledge the selection of four of our senior Visual Art students in “Incubator 2023”. During September artworks by Year 11 students Ethan Torrens, Ashley Kani, Darcy Hotston and Year 12 student, Gabriel Dinneen were exhibited in the Paddington Substation Hands-on-Art Gallery across several weeks. Congratulations to Darcy Hotston for receiving the “People’s Choice Award” for his detailed pen and ink drawing entitled “Deity”.
