Primary School News

Mr Michael Connolly, Head of Primary School

Dear Parents,

There are many things that we have a right to be very proud of here at Marist College. Last week, our AIC Athletes gave us yet another reason to celebrate success as a Primary School. To win the Primary aggregate trophy at the AIC Athletics Championships for a third straight year is a remarkable achievement. To compete against the other seven AIC colleges over two days of competition and win both the Year 5 and Year 6 trophies as well is even more remarkable.

Like any sporting endeavor, these results are the culmination of months of hard work by the boys, the coaches and of course, the parents who support them in their endeavors. Winning an AIC Championship is not like winning a raffle. When compared to hard work and commitment, luck plays very little part in the ultimate success of a team. I would like to congratulate all the athletes that trained hard all season, including over the recent school holidays, to push our representatives on to do their best. We can be rightly proud of the boys for, not only winning, but the way in which they won and the respect they showed to the runners up.

Our Awards Night on Monday evening was another opportunity to celebrate our success in the Primary School. There were many boys presented with their awards, and these students are to be congratulated for their efforts that put them on stage to receive this recognition. I look forward to all boys in all classes pushing themselves on the achieve their goals this term.

AIC Track & Field Championships

Marist Primary has done it again! In an outstanding display of teamwork and ability, the boy’s secured the Primary Aggregate title for the third consecutive year. Clinching victories in both the Year 5 and Year 6 age groups—a remarkable achievement!

Year 5 proved to be an unstoppable force, dominating the competition throughout the day. Impressively, they secured top-three places in an incredible 26 out of 30 events. A dominant performance of both consistency and excellence!

The relay teams for both Year 5 and Year 6 showcased exceptional performances. Year 5 took home victories in both of their relay events, asserting the dominance they had shown throughout the carnival. Meanwhile, Year 6 faced a challenging situation, trailing Villanova College by 15 points heading into the relays. However, a stellar 2nd place in Division 2 and a triumphant victory in Division 1 turned the tide, securing the Year 6 boys a well-deserved victory in their age group.

Congratulations to all the boys for their remarkable efforts and unwavering commitment. Marist College Primary's legacy in the AIC Track and Field Championships continues to shine brightly!
