Awards Night at QPAC

Congratulations to all of the Performing Arts students who presented at Awards Night last Monday evening in the Concert Hall of the Queensland Performing Arts Complex. The hard work that has gone on throughout the year in rehearsals and class was clearly evident in the high standard of performance presented by all. Congratulations to all students and staff. You were amazing!

Soiree and Grandparents Day

The Marist College Ashgrove Music Department is grateful to have come together as a community for our annual Soiree on the last Thursday of Term 3. This concert is the culmination of the 2023 Concert Season which also farewells our graduating seniors. It sees the Champagnat Centre transformed into a vibrant event space hosting over 600 guests who were entertained by all of the College’s large and small ensembles performing across three stages. The evening was a great success with all ensembles performing to a very high standard. Thank you to all members of the College community who were able to attend in celebration and also to the Music Staff, P&F, College Tech Crew and Services Teams for their contributions. Congratulations boys and thank you for your commitment.

Australian and State Honours Ensemble Program

Congratulations to the following students who participated in the State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) and Australian Honours Ensemble Program (AHEP) held at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) South Bank Campus during the September school holidays:

State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP):

Liam Bourke, Ben Bright, Alessander Javier, Jamie Landolt, Joshua Spanevello, William Waring

Australian Honours Ensemble Program (AHEP):

Max Bathersby, Tommy Garden, Isaac Lynn, Zac Wright

SHEP is an educational program for music students that helps extend and encourage their pursuit of musical excellence, bringing together young people from all over Queensland to share their passion for making music. Open Conservatorium’s State Honours Ensemble Program has grown from relatively modest beginnings in 2001 to hosting over 5000 students each year, receiving many more nominations than are able to be accommodated. AHEP, which celebrates six years in 2023, has also grown to encompass students from New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and the Northern Territory. QCGU provides 4 programs in Brisbane and 11 regional programs. The recent Brisbane programs culminated in the AHEP Grand Finale concert on Saturday, 30 September and the SHEP Grand Finale concert on Sunday 1 October where our Marist College Ashgrove boys performed and represented the college admirably.
