Congratulations to Lowanna Sports Academy Assistant Coach Makenzie Miller who won the 2023 Gippsland United Division Two Championships, and who was named MVP in the Grand Final.
We have been extremely fortunate to have Makenzie working with our Sports Academy students over the past two years. She has developed a great rapport with the students and has been a fantastic role model. Mackenzie has returned back to the USA to start her career in teaching.
See below photo of our Sports Trainee Alisha Molesworth and Year 10 Sports Academy student Addison Vickery-Howe after the Round 16 game against Northern Knights at Morwell Recreation Reserve in the Centre of Excellence. The girls worked hard but did not get a win.

Congratulations to Sam Flanders who has signed a four-year contract with the Gold Coast Suns. After an interrupted year with an early knee injury and then being dropped after returning, Sam had a sensational finish to the year averaging 30 possessions a game over his last 10 games. This earned him another four-year contract.
We recently designed new volleyball and soccer uniforms for our students, and they were delivered straight to the State Soccer, fresh off the press. We are very happy with how they turned out.
On Tuesday the 5th of September the Year 7 Girls Sports Academy students travelled down to Darebin International Sports Centre to participate in the state round of soccer.
They won their first game, 7-0, and lost their other two games, 1-7 and 1-3. A big thank you to our Soccer Coach, Peter Boyes, for traveling down to coach the team. Fantastic effort girls!
On Friday the 1st of September our Junior Sports Academy students participated in school basketball.
Our Year 8 boys played at Lowanna College where they were undefeated and won the flag, and our Year 7 Boys and Year 7 and 8 Girls played at the Newborough Leisure Centre.
Our Year 8 girls had a great day, making it through to the Grand Final but unfortunately did not win the game.
Our Year 7 boys were very competitive in their two games, losing by 3 and 4 points respectively.
Our Year 7 girls were a class above, finishing the day undefeated. Fantastic effort by all!
Well done to Year 9 Sports Academy student Bella Taylor who played in Yallourn Golf Club's 9-Hole One Man Ambrose Event. She won the Junior 9-hole event last week, and this week was pipped by one shot in the Women’s Division, scoring a great 26 net.

Physioworks provide high quality service for our athletes which allows for timely and professional diagnosis and treatment, with follow up rehabilitation programs also sent to the Academy staff. This allows the Sports Academy Team to make sure this is completed during class time.
We would like to acknowledge our support from Pacific Team Sports as they’re an Official Nike Teamwear Partner, and our students will be wearing their uniform to National's (Basketball) later this year.
