The Resilience Project

Positive Mental Health for our School Community

The past three years have been very challenging for everyone, in particular for schools, families and children. The need to support mental health is as important as it has ever been. In 2024, our school will work with, and implement, the School Wellbeing Program of the Resilience Project. This Program is currently being implemented in over 800 schools across the country and is an approved provider on the Victorian Schools Mental Health Menu.

The whole School Wellbeing Program teaches and supports positive mental health in the classroom, staffroom and wider community. The Program is emotionally engaging, practical and proven to have impact through evidence-based evaluations.

INSPIRE- digital presentations and workshops are fun and captivating to inspire everyone to practise positive wellbeing strategies. All presentations are centred around gratitude, empathy and mindfulness with principles linked to positive emotions and positive wellbeing.

ENGAGE- a learning and teaching curriculum which is engaging, enjoyable and is the foundational tool which embeds wellbeing into school culture.

What the Resilience Project delivers

A whole school approach to teaching and embedding positive mental health strategies to help people become happier and more resilient. The holistic program works with teachers, students, families to support the wellbeing of young people and envelop their future capacity to deal with adversity.

Benefits

The University of Melbourne evaluation findings indicated that the program benefits arose from both the program content and the style of delivery. The variety helped many children engage with lessons and one another. The greatest demonstrated change overall was improved student gratitude. There was also reported benefits for many students in relation to:

emotional skills
social relationships
confidence and self-esteem
supportive classroom environments

Resilience is important in every day life so that we can navigate the challenges, both small and large. Learning the skills and strategies to build resilience and a positive outlook will assist all in our community to live happier lives.
