What's Been Happening in Prep

The Prep students have had a very busy start to Term 4!

Throughout Term 3, we explored different ways to stay safe and healthy and celebrated the end of the unit with a visit to My First Gym in Craigieburn. The students experienced learning gymnastic skills, parkour skills, and exercises to build strength and endurance.

Just as one unit ended, the other has begun! This week, the students participated in an incursion related to Toys! They had a wonderful time playing with and experimenting with toys from different eras. Students discussed the materials the toys were made from and the ways in which they work.

We look forward to designing, creating and sharing our very own toys throughout Term 4!

Northern Metropolitan Region Athletics Championships

Dear Our Lady's Primary School community,

I am thrilled to report on the outstanding achievements of our school's athletes at the Northern Metropolitan Region Athletics Championships, which took place on Wednesday, October 11th. Our team, comprised of six talented students, competed in a variety of track and field events, showcasing remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

Impressive Results

The level of competition at this regional event was truly outstanding, with schools from across the Northern Metropolitan Region coming together to compete. Our students, Ryder Cardamone (3C) in Discus, Aidan Brigante (5B) in the 200m, Ibukun Onademuren (5B) in the 100m, Nana Kwabena Tiboah (5C) in the 100m and Long Jump, Julienne Sia (6A) in Long Jump, and Ojal Kurl (6B) in the 100m, rose to the challenge and delivered impressive results in their respective events.

Gold Medal Triumph

One of the standout moments of the day was when our very own Nana Kwabena Tiboah (5C) secured the gold medal in the 100m sprint. This remarkable achievement is a testament to his hard work and dedication to his sport. We couldn't be prouder of his accomplishment, and it serves as a source of inspiration for all our young athletes.

Near Misses and Outstanding Efforts

Additionally, several of our athletes, including Ryder Cardamone (3C), Aidan Brigante (5B), Ibukun Onademuren (5B), Julienne Sia (6A), and Ojal Kurl (6B), narrowly missed out on podium finishes. Their near misses are a testament to the fierce competition and the high level of skill required to succeed at this level. However, their performances were nothing short of outstanding, and they should be commended for their exceptional efforts.

In various events, such as discus throw, long jump, and the 100m and 200m sprints, our students displayed exemplary sportsmanship and determination, representing Our Lady's Primary School with pride and honor.

Nana Kwabena Tiboah's Next Challenge

We are thrilled to announce that Nana Kwabena Tiboah (5C), the gold medalist in the 100m, will now head off to the Victorian State Athletics Championships at Albert Park on November 1. We wish Nana the very best of luck as he represents Our Lady's Primary School at the state level.

Future Prospects

The success of our students, Ryder Cardamone (3C), Aidan Brigante (5B), Ibukun Onademuren (5B), Nana Kwabena Tiboah (5C), Julienne Sia (6A), and Ojal Kurl (6B), at the Northern Metropolitan Region Athletics Championships is a clear indicator of the potential that exists within our school's sports program. We look forward to nurturing and developing our athletes' talents, preparing them for future competitions, and helping them reach even greater heights in their athletic careers.

We are immensely proud of our student-athletes and their accomplishments at this event. Their dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship serve as a shining example to our entire school community.

Thank you for your continued support of our PE program and the student-athletes who represent Our Lady's Primary School. We eagerly anticipate the future successes that lie ahead.

Sincerely,

Craigieburn Library Class Visits

Students in Prep and Year 1 will be visiting the Hume Craigieburn Library in Term 4. For your child to be able to borrow a book whilst on the excursion they must be a member of the Hume library. If your child isn't a member already, we encourage you to visit the library and become a member. To sign up, you need to visit the Hume library in person and provide identification with your current address. If your child has a membership card but has not borrowed within the last 12 months, their library card will have expired. Please see the school newsletter for dates your child will be visiting the library.
