From the Classroom

People in our community: Fire Fighters

What a busy 3 weeks we have had in Foundation.  During term 3 we have been learning about our community, places, people and things. In week 8 and 9 we had visits from the Fire Fighters.  All the students were very excited to meet, learn and get to play with the hoses on the 'Big' Fire Truck.

People in our community: Paramedics

In Week 9, thanks to Mrs Bullen, we had a visit from the Paramedics. Mrs Bullen's daughter and partner visited our classroom. All the students excitedly shared what they knew about paramedics and why their job is important in our community.  We all enjoyed hearing the siren and watching curious faces looking out from the year 5/6 windows.

Footy Day and Camp

Week 10, and what a busy week!

Monday- The foundation students participated in their first POPS 'footy' day. All students proudly wore their favourite footy or other sports code colours.

Wednesday- Camp day was a busy, fun and exciting day. All the foundation students arrived at school with a sleeping bag/blanket, cushion and teddy ready for a fun day. The first thing that all the students had to do was set up the Foundation Sleeping Quarters.

Then the students started their day with their first activity, 'Nature Art'.

After Nature Art, we all tucked into a yummy morning tea in the mess room prepared by our wonderful parent helpers. All the students loved the healthy fruit, veggies and antipasto platters.

After recess, our foundation campers had to make a teddy shelter using sticks, bark, leaves and flowers. We had some fantastic creations. Lots of teamwork!

Our young campers were outside learning 'Tunnel Ball' just before lunch. We all had fun participating in this activity. Each team watched the opposition and forgot to create a tunnel with their legs.

Lunch finally arrived - thank you to Mrs Schaper, who prepared our yummy lunch.

After lunch, we had some very tired campers. Before heading to the sleeping quarters, we watched the year 1 and 2 talent show. Everyone was pleased to return to our rooms, settle in the sleeping quarters, relax, and watch Curious George Goes Camping.

Thank you to all the helpers, students and staff who made this day possible.
