Visual Arts

Carly & Bell

As term 2 comes to a close, we are excited to share more of the creative pieces the students have been working on. We continue our 'space' theme through the medium of paper collage. Students plan, arrange and stick down shapes using various textures and glues to build layers in their artworks. We have looked at collage artists such as Kurt Schwitters, Hannah Hoch and Ben Lewis Giles for inspiration in styles, patterns, papers and arrangements. Some of the artwork will soon go on display in the front office reception area. We hope you enjoy our artistic theme 'We are all Stars in our Universe'.

Foundation

The Foundation community have been exploring tissue paper; cutting, tearing, scrunching and gluing down to match their planned designs. They have focused on line, shape and colour to create their own very planets.

Grades 1-2

The grade 1 and 2 communities have reinforced the principles of pattern and are being introduced to contrast and movement. They focused on line, shape and colour through their planet artworks.

Grades 3-4

The grade 3 and 4 communities have reinforced the principles of pattern, contrast and movement. They have started to explore texture through their alien creature artworks.

Grades 5-6

The grade 5 and 6 communities have revised the principles of pattern, contrast and movement. They are now focusing on emphasis, creating a point of interest in their unique starburst artworks.

ART SMOCKS

A reminder to send a labelled art smock (an old shirt or purchased one) with your child to school for messy work in both their community and Visual Arts classes to protect their uniforms. Students must keep these in their tubs or bags and bring to class as needed.

Thank you to the students and their families who have already done this.

We are always extremely proud of Aitken Hill students' creativity and expression through artwork and can't wait to see their finished pieces.

Thank you,

Carly & Bell.
