To celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart, the Foundation students created their own Sacred Heart of Jesus statues. They drew inspiration from similar statues they observed in the church, the school office, and their homes.

Year 1

For Writing, we have been focusing on Persuasive Texts. We read the book 'Red is Best' and then we wrote about the colour we think is best. We had to think of reasons to support our opinion.

Valentino - Blue is the best colour because it is the colour of nature and water.

Bruno - Red is the best because it is the colour of strawberries. Also it is the colour of number blocks.

Audrey - Pink is the best colour because when you paint it is very pretty. Also you can wear pink shirts and there are many pink toys.

Elissa - Rainbow is my favourite colour because I like to draw rainbows.

Aiden - Yellow is the best because yellow is the most shiny colour in the world. Also, yellow is good and it is the best colour in the rainbow.

Ruan - Blue is the best colour because you can drink water and you can swim in the water at the beach and you can see the sky. You can eat blueberries and you can read a blue book and it is in the backgrounds.

Alena - Black is the best colour because it is dark and I like dark colours. It looks pretty to me. It’s the colour of the night and I like the colour of black.

Ezra - Red is the best colour because it is the colour of Darthmaul’s face and his light saber from Star Wars. Red is the best because Darth Vader’s light saber is red.

Abigail - Teal is my favourite colour because it’s a nice colour for a flower. It’s a colour for yummy ice-cream. Lastly, there are different types of teal.

Stella - Pink is the best colour because you can wear pink clothes and pink is also pretty and lots of people like pink. Pink also represents love.

Liam - Blue is the best colour because blue is my favourite shirt. The blue sky makes me happy. Blue Zappo is my favourite candy.

Year 2/3

Howdy Families,

Can you believe it? We are at the end of Week 9, Term 2! Time flies when you are having so much fun learning and growing. Last week was jam packed with celebrations. It was Sacred Heart’s Feast Week, we had a very special Baptism including a member from our very own class and The Talent Show. Enjoy the photos below. Please be aware our class assembly did not happen this week, as you would have been notified about this, but it will happen next week YAY. Please stay safe and warm.

Year 3 and Year 3/4

This weeks science experiment was a 'Volcanic Eruption'. Below are the faces of students in awe of what they are seeing, such an exciting moment for all.

Question: Why does the volcano erupt?

Our aim for this project is to make an eruption like a volcanic eruption but with materials in your house like baking soda and vinegar.

Hypothesis: The baking soda and vinegar will make it erupt, the baking soda is going to make it fizz.

Materials: Baking soda, water, dishwashing liquid, food colouring and vinegar.

Results: When we mixed the first four items together, the water turned green and caused bubbles but no eruption. When we mixed the vinegar together it caused a gas. The gas mixed with the dishwashing liquid which caused an eruption and the foam bubbled out and spilled over.

We predicted that the vinegar and the baking soda would make the bubbles erupt as the bubbles are a gas. It was cool how when you touched it you could feel the baking soda.

By Sai and Eva

First we predicted and wrote our predication on our Experiment sheet. Our predication was that we thought the vinegar or baking soda or together it would erupt. Then we started mixing the materials together with green food colouring, we stirred this up and it had bubbles. When we put the vinegar in the cup, it started to erupt with lots foam exploding over the top of the cup. I (Laura) felt amazed at what I was seeing. I (Lawrence) felt that it was cool! When I (Massie) was typing, I felt happy about having fun with the experiment and typing on the chromebook. By Laura, Lawrence and Massie

It was fun to do the experiment but the writing is not as fun. Mia

Making a volcano is fun to make. Amy

I really like the part where the volcano erupted and the foam overflowed into the tray. Arvin

I liked how the second time we added the vinegar it erupted again. I also liked the end when I was writing the report on our experiment. Olivia

The baking powder and the vinegar made a gas, the vinegar made it explode and it was lots of fun. Chloe

It was an awesome experiment to do. Raffaela

It was really fun to do. It was pretty cool when the volcano exploded. It exploded when the vinegar mixed with the baking soda, water, food colouring, dishwashing liquid.

Our story was called Magic Rainbow Fairy. Our second favorite part of the Library time was borrowing books. Stella’s book was about a fairy. I think that we should do this more often. It was amazing!   By Jasmine

We all had a Year 1 buddy and mine was Ezra. When me and Ezra created our story, Ezra was the main character and he saved the day from a ginormous monster! At the end of the Library session, we all sat down on the carpet and looked at some of the stories that others had created. We had an excellent morning!   By Brenton

This morning we had a Library session with the Year 1s. We all had partners and mine was Elissa. Once we got our buddy a book to borrow, we then had to make up a story with them on an app called ‘Story Jumper’. Our book was about a tiny yet adventurous baby bird called Bella who got too bored in her nest and so left. Then a big wolf came and Bella called for help. Her mum came to the rescue and fought off the wolf. After that, they went back to their normal life and sometimes, even left the nest to explore. This is a story that both Elissa and I created together. Finally, we ended the Library session by reading some of the amazing stories that the other students had created. I love working with the Year 1s in the Library.   By Aleisha
