Assessment & Reporting

Your child will receive a formal Semester Report after each semester while they are enrolled at Bemin Secondary College. This report will indicate their academic progress through the Victorian Curriculum standards.

Accessing Your Child's Report

Please refer to the Compass Parent Guide which will show you where critical notifications regarding the reports are.

What Is Included In Your Child's Semester Report

Each Semester's Report is designed in an easy-to-read format and will include:

  • A Summary of Academic Progress: each semester report contains a summary page to provide an overall picture of your child's learning progress against the Victorian Curriculum.
  • EAL Continuum: where relevant, your child may be assessed against the Victorian Curriculum's English as an Additional Language (EAL) continuum, in place of English.
  • Subject Description and Progress Reports: the semester reports will include a detailed description and progress graph for each subject. The description briefly outlines the subject's content, the skills taught and how they align with the Victorian Curriculum.
  • An overview of your child's attendance this semester (in the Check and Connect report).
  • The specific percentage of Classes Attended for each subject taught.
  • Student Work Habits: an assessment of your child's behaviour at school on a 5-point scale ranging from Not Satisfactory to Excellent, focusing on four key behavioural indicators:
    • Attitude to Learning
    • Organises Class Work
    • Follows Expected Classroom Routines
    • Respects Peers and Teachers
  • Common Assessment Tasks (CAT): Common Assessment Tasks for each subject and their scores are listed. These are specific pieces of work within a subject area that all students must complete. These are tasks that teachers use to assess the learning growth of each student in the same cohort, against a common set of criteria to measure students' knowledge and skill sets.
  • Modified Reports: where required, your child's report may be marked with *This Is A Modified Report* and include an additional teacher comment on your child's progress in the subject.
