Western United FC Visits Bemin Secondary College

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Bemin Secondary College had the honour of welcoming players, coaches, and officials from Western United FC for a day filled with football excitement and learning. The event featured a Q&A session, interactive drill sessions, and an inspiring glimpse into the life of professional footballers.

The delegation from Western United FC included esteemed players such as goalkeeper Tom Heward-Belle, defenders James Donachie and Tomoki Imai, and midfielder Riku Danzaki. Accompanying the players were key staff members, including Community Development Manager and Assistant Coach Chelsea Noonan and General Manager of Community Development & Partnerships Aylin Bagdadi.

The visit began with a lively Q&A session where students engaged with the players and coaches, with topics ranging from the early stages of a football career to the rigorous training and dedication required to excel at a professional level. Students were eager to learn about the intricacies of the football journey, asking insightful questions about overcoming challenges, maintaining peak physical condition, and the importance of teamwork and resilience.

Following the Q&A, students participated in drill sessions run by the players themselves. These drills offered a hands-on experience, allowing students to practice their skills and understand the level of commitment and effort needed to succeed in football. The players provided personalized tips and guidance, fostering a supportive and enthusiastic environment.
