Reconciliation and NAIDOC week

NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Australia's First Nations people. It started with a significant event called the Day of Mourning on 26 January 1938. This was when over 1000 Aboriginal people gathered in Sydney to demand better rights and recognition.

Since then, NAIDOC Week has grown into a time of both remembrance and celebration. It happens every year from the first Sunday in July to the following Sunday.

It's a special time to learn about and honour the Indigenous cultures of Australia.

Year 6 Students became inspired to create their own Poems after watching “Little things” by Ziggy Ramo. The students Poems will be sent into a NAIDOC WEEK School Initiatives 2024, competition. Here are some examples of excellence.
