Grandparent’s Day

On Thursday 6 June, we had a very special morning in Prep. We celebrated Grandparent’s Day and why our grandparents are so special to us. Our Unit of Inquiry is 'Where we are in place and time' so we will be learning about families, family traditions and how things have changed over time. Our grandparents thought lots of things have changed since they were in primary school.

Prep B I Love My Grandparents Because..

Prep C I Love My Grandparents Because ...

We sang some songs with actions, and all had a turn to speak into the microphone to say “I love my grandparents because…” The last song we sang was ‘Cover me in Sunshine’ and we learnt some sign language to show our grandparents. They all took lots of photos.

Once our performance had finished, we all shared a special morning tea with our grandparents outside or in our classrooms.

We had a fantastic morning, and our teachers are super proud of us all!

Show and Tell – Unit of Inquiry

Prep students have been sharing their family traditions and culture with us of a Friday during show and tell sessions. AFL seems to be a recurring tradition amongst our cohort with many showing off their footy colours and one of our very own appearing on the Sunday Footy Show after meeting his favourite player!

Go Sonny!

Literacy – Reading

We are very proud of the children who are diligently applying their letters and sounds to their reading. Students are sounding out and blending sounds to read short texts and noticing our words of the week in their books or even in their neighbourhood!

Maths – Number

We have been focussing on number formation to 20 many showing off their skills exploring numbers, counting and representing during our maths sessions.

Resilience Project

Recently our lesson focus was, “What makes a good friend”. Students came up with a great list of important attributes that make a good friend. They picked one that was most important to them and illustrated. Some included: caring, uses manners, respects and listens, plays with you and looks after you – some lovely friendship traits!
