NIAS/UAA Indigenous Talent Identification Day

Our school was lucky enough to host the NIAS/UAA Indigenous Talent Identification Day on Wednesday 26th June. It was a great day that started with a Welcome to Country by Uncle Steve Widders. NRL legend Dean Widders also attended as a guest coach and mentor for all student athletes. The day saw over 50 students attend from a huge range of schools including Farrer, Carinya, Tamworth High School, NEGs, Calrossy, Warialda High School, O'Connor Catholic College,Moree Secondary College and Waldorf School. All students had a great time developing their skills, having fun and building friendships.

Lyambay Dancers

The second half of this term has been extremely busy for our Lyambay dancers! Our dancers were invited to perform at Oorala as well as performing at the Armidale Schools NAIDOC Awards and Sandon Public Schools NAIDOC Assembly. We are so proud of our deadly dancers and wish them all the best as they perform this week at the Mid-North Coast Dance festival in Coffs Harbour.

Sandon Primary School NAIDOC Assembly

This week our Lyambay dancers and two of our year 7 students who went to Sandon Primary School were invited back to help celebrate NAIDOC Week. Sasha Blair and Lyric Griffiths were asked to deliver a speech and our dancer performed their piece home. It was a great opportunity for our students!

Sophia-Rose Markham

A huge shoutout to Sophia-Rose Markham for her incredible hard work and tenacity! Sophia-Rose was the runner-up in the Plain English Speaking Competition, and we couldn't be more proud of her unwavering spirit and dedication.

Her improv speech on the theme 'Back to the Beginning,' in which she focused on the crucial issue of suicide rates in rural areas, was well received and met with warm applause.

Sophia was named runner up in the competition, she did a fantastic job and has made each and everyone of us extremely proud.

Congratulations on a remarkable achievement, Sophia-Rose
