Softball team travelled to Inverell to play against Macintyre High in the knockout competition. The boys had some fantastic plays, and it was a great learning experience for everyone involved. Our students were brilliant ambassadors for ASC, and we look forward to playing again next year

Extraordinary Day at ASC with Eddie Woo!
ASC was very excited to welcome celebrity mathematics teacher, Eddie Woo, to the school in week 8. He spent the day interacting with students and staff in a variety of workshops in his role of Leader of the Mathematics Growth Team. He had this to say about his visit, "It was such a privilege for me to work with the teachers and students at Armidale Secondary College this week. Mathematics is a crucial subject for all people to understand and master, and there is already fantastic work being done in the mathematics faculty at ASC to ensure that students can grow in their mathematical knowledge and skill - I loved being able to reinforce and support that work by delivering workshops that show how maths is connected to the world around us."
It was great to see students buzzing about maths and being able to share that experience with students from not just ASC, but from Guyra Central, Martin’s Gully Public, Kelly’s Plains Public, and Armidale City Public. There were many photos taken and students have been eagerly collecting their selfies with Eddie from Mrs Elford in the Maths faculty.
End of Our Open Girls Soccer Campaign
The girls played the regional final against a well-drilled Oxley team. The match ended at 1-1 after a strong 70 minutes of soccer. Unfortunately, the girls lost in golden goal extra time when Oxley managed to score.
A massive congratulations to this team, who have improved with each game they played this year. Making it to the regional final is a fantastic achievement, and ASC is incredibly proud of you!
Special thanks to Zac Winiata and Jacob Williams, who officiated as linesmen, and to Miss Walsh for giving up her day off to come and coach our girls! We look forward to next year already!

We were honoured to have hosted the the UAA/NIAS Indigenous Talent Identification Day!
The Day saw over 60 young athletes from the Northern Inland region come together. The event began with a Welcome to Country by Anaiwan elder Uncle Steve Widders.
NRL legend and NIAS alumnus Dean Widders served as guest coach and mentor, inspiring the athletes with his presence and advice on balancing sport and education.
NIAS CEO Shona Eichorn praised the turnout and talent, while Programs Manager Nicole Wong highlighted the event's role in building confidence and community. Activities included various sports, fitness testing, and coaching sessions, with selected athletes invited to future NIAS Sports Programs trials.
Our Open Girls Softball team competed in the knockout gala day in Tamworth! It was a beautiful day filled with exciting games against Coona, Narrabri, and Macintyre. The girls came away with two wins and one loss, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements!

Congratulations to Our 7-10 Dance Ensemble!
Our talented students performed beautifully at the Mid North Coast Dance Festival in Coffs Harbour. They showcased two dances - a lyrical contemporary work and a jazz piece.
We're thrilled to announce that both pieces have been selected for the Gala Night on Thursday!
The girls did a wonderful job representing the school and have worked incredibly hard over the past two terms.
A massive thank you to Mrs. Pearson for all of her organisation and to Mrs. Fulloon for driving the bus and assisting with the excursion.

Cattle Camp!
Some of our students attended Cattle Camp in Dalby, Queensland run by Herefords Queensland Youth Association. They had a fantastic time and particularly enjoyed the parading!
Congratulations to the winners, and well done to all our students for their exemplary behaviour in representing our school.
Arthur C Clarke’s observation that “Any sufficiently advanced technology was indistinguishable from magic’ was evident when watching the amazing engagement of 380 local Year 5 and 6 students from Chandler, Newling, Armidale City, Martin’s Gully, Sandon Public, Ben Venue and Drummond Memorial primary schools. The students’ absorption in a day of STEM activities delivered by Future Teachers Club students from Armidale Secondary College Sir Joseph Banks, Macquarie Fields and Muswellbrook High Schools, was impressive. The ‘magic’ was spread across all schools and groups as Future Teachers delivered STEM-based activities that sustained student engagement across the hour-long sessions. This is a testament to the Future Teachers’ focus, determination, and shared purpose of delivering quality learning and taking responsibility for how they would ‘teach’ a STEM challenge to their various groups.
Perry Celestino, the founding father of the Future Teachers Club initiative, which now has over 1,400 members, was a special guest. He demonstrated his incredible talent with the acoustic guitar before engaging in a rock duet with fellow scientist and Associate Professor Brendan from UNE STEM Education. STEM draws on all aspects of human experience, including the creative arts and sciences.
Armidale Secondary College, Macquarie Fields, and Sir Joseph Banks all have Future Teachers Clubs and collaborate to conduct these interschool visits, fostering an understanding of regional and rural schools. Muswellbrook High School in the Hunter Valley expressed an interest in developing a Future Teachers Club, and a coordinated visit for the STEM Day was arranged.
Support Unit
Another term of full-on activity draws to a close and the Support Unit has made the most of opportunities to be involved in various activities this term.
The Highlight of this term is participation in the amazing Musical Production HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. The ensemble of the Musical was so supportive of our four superstars Jaz, Coren, Jhye, and Ollie. Thank you to all the parents, guardians, and staff, who were also integral in the success of this event.
We continued our out and about activities with some thrilling games of golden child, and other sporting activities conducted in the den. Our movie day and Creek land health check were highlights.
Gymnastics again proved popular with all students. The development of some of the student’s skills was pleasing.
This term we have also been very lucky to be included in some of the celebrity visits this term. Firstly, we were schooled by Mathematical educator Eddie Woo. We also had a celebrity appearance by former student Dean Widders, who kindly signed Daniel Reid’s ball and Daniel also met Latrell Mitchell, at Rugby League Park, through the effort of Aunty Carol.
Happy holidays be safe and smart, looking forward to another busy Semester see you all next term. Warmest regards Support Unit staff.
