Term 2 was incredibly busy, filled with exciting activities, projects, and events that kept everyone engaged and productive.

Term 2 Highlights

Mother's Day Breakfast - Wednesday 15th of May

A truly wonderful event celebrating our amazing mothers and mother figures. Held in our small gym, mothers and children enjoyed a healthy and nutritious breakfast prepared by Sue from our canteen. The atmosphere was filled with joy and appreciation. A big thank you to the dedicated efforts of all the volunteers who helped make the event possible. It was a memorable morning that honoured the special women in our lives.

Kid's Own Publishing - 16th, 23rd & 30th of May

The Kid's Own Publishing 3-week workshop in our playgroup was a big success. Parents and children worked together to create their own books, using autumn leaves collected from local parks and the school. The theme was autumn, and the team from Kid's Own Publishing did an excellent job guiding everyone. At the end of the workshop, the children proudly showed off their handmade books. It was a valuable and enjoyable experience for all involved.

Reptile Encounters visited our playgroup! - Tuesday 16th June

Reptile Encounters visiting our playgroup was a thrilling experience for everyone. The children were fascinated by the wide variety of reptiles, including snakes, lizards, crocodiles and frogs. The knowledgeable handler shared interesting facts and allowed the kids to safely interact with the animals. It was an educational and exciting day that sparked curiosity and enthusiasm for wildlife among the young learners.

Parenting in the Digital World

The Parenting in the Digital World 6-week workshop was very effective. Parents learned practical tips and strategies for managing their kids' digital lives, from online safety to screen time. The workshop was interactive and informative, with facilitators guiding discussions and sharing real-life examples. Attendees found it really helpful for dealing with today's parenting challenges around technology, making it a valuable program for our community.

 

Learn to Swim Women's program

The Learn to Swim lessons for women were incredibly successful. Participants gained confidence and skills in the water, many overcoming long-held fears. The supportive and encouraging environment created by the instructors helped everyone feel comfortable and motivated. By the end of the program, the women not only improved their swimming abilities but also built a sense of community and empowerment. It was a truly transformative experience for all involved.

Sewing for Life program

The Sewing For Life program was a remarkable achievement. Participants worked on a variety of projects, creating costumes, pyjamas, and many other items. The program provided a supportive environment where everyone could learn and improve their sewing skills. By the end, participants not only completed beautiful, practical pieces but also gained confidence and a sense of accomplishment. It was an enriching experience that fostered creativity and community.

 

 

Community Cooking

The Community Cooking sessions were a great experience. Participants came together to cook and share meals, learning new recipes and cooking tips. The sessions created a sense of teamwork and friendship as everyone shared their skills and different cultural dishes. By the end, participants had improved their cooking and made new friends. It was a fun and rewarding time for everyone involved.

 

English classes

The community hub's English classes were a valuable and positive experience. Participants improved their language skills through interactive lessons and engaging activities. The supportive atmosphere encouraged everyone to practice speaking, listening, and writing in English. Friendships were formed, and confidence grew as students helped each other learn. Overall, the classes not only enhanced language abilities but also built a strong sense of community.
