Yet another busy term is the Visual Art room!
PREP, GRADE 1 & 2:
Students in these levels have almost finished their Rainbow Fish mixed media pieces. These will be ready for viewing at our end of year Arts Extravaganza.
Children have painted their fish faces, fins and tails using paint sticks, then they meticulously cut out tiny scales in U or rounded shapes to glue onto the fish body. They experimented with cool coloured paint to create a lovely ocean for their fish to swim in.
GRADE 3 & 4:
Students in grades 3 and 4 have enjoyed participating in a graffiti themed unit of work. They have practiced creating graffiti style lettering and colouring their work in bold, bright colours with paint sticks to mimic graffiti they have seen in the community. They have also spent time doing some sponge stamping, and warm colour paint mixing to create a realistic brick wall on which to place their graffiti art.
GRADE 5 & 6:
These grades have also explored graffiti as a genre this term. They have explored using technology by ways of an online graffiti generator, using their laptops responsibly and to support their art learning. They developed graphics featuring graffiti style fonts and text. They then learned how to safely use a low temperature hot glue gun and created miniature wooden fences out of popsicle sticks on which they will transfer their graffiti designs onto.
