Newsletter Article - Term 2, Week 10

Education Week – ‘Proud to Belong’.

One of my favourite school events is fast approaching. In week 3 of Term 3, Boorowa Central School celebrates, with all other NSW public schools, Education week.

At Boorowa Central, we host a variety of activities as a part of Education Week that are focused on celebrating public education and creating opportunities for parents and community members to share in this celebration.

Planned activities include an Education Week assembly, writing and art competitions as well as a spelling bee, numeracy challenge, grandparents' day, book fair and finally a staff v student sporting challenge.

Two special screenings of the ‘Embrace Kids’ documentary have also been arranged by the Boorowa Central School P and C as a part of Education Week. Embrace Kids is an uplifting film by Taryn Brumfitt (EMBRACE 2016) which brings together a vibrant collection of stories from young people and famous friends alike, who share their experiences about body image, bullying, gender identity, advocacy, representation and more.

Compass Parent App

Boorowa Central School is moving toward the use of Compass for all information sharing regarding school business, events and other. To access this information, parents, caregivers and students can download the Compass app from your device’s app store. Additionally, you will need your unique username and password. This has been sent home both with your child and via the mail. Alternatively, you can call the school for these details.

Once you log into Compass, all information that is relevant to you and your children at Boorowa Central School can be found.

If you have any questions, please contact the school for further support.

Cooler Classrooms

The final fit out for our new air conditioners, as a part of the Cooler Classrooms program, occurred this week. Finally, all classroom spaces have reverse cycle air conditioners to replace the old evaporative air conditioners and gas heaters. No longer will our students sweat through the summer months and try and focus on their learning. Now every indoor learning space can have its temperature controlled to optimise learning at all times.

End of Term 2

This is the final edition for the Newsletter for Term 2 and Semester 1. Thank you for your ongoing support of our school and trusting us with your children. We will continue to educate your children to the best of our ability in the future and hope to achieve our school vision of all students one day leaving our school having achieved individual excellence and with the skills to succeed in a changing world.

School returns for all students in Term 3 on Tuesday 23 July 2024.

Have a happy, safe and relaxing school holiday break.
