As we come to the end of a wonderful school year, I would like to take a moment to thank our Foundation and Grade 1 families for your incredible support, encouragement, and partnership. It has been a joy to watch our young learners grow in confidence, curiosity, and independence throughout the year.

I am so proud of the way students have shown kindness, resilience, and a willingness to have a go. These qualities have helped create a classroom community where everyone feels welcome, valued, and encouraged to do their best.

We wish all students and families a safe, restful and joy-filled holiday.

Wow—where has the year gone? Time really does fly when you’re having fun, and that was the clear message from our students when we asked them about their year. They were able to reflect on the many learning experiences we shared and expressed gratitude for all the time we spent together. We are very proud of their wonderful achievements this year and feel so grateful to be a part of their journey.

Some of their favourite moments included Storybook Time, Book Week, Swimming, Scooter Ed, Visual Art, the Puppet Show, and our excursion.

Thank you to all our families for your ongoing support and partnership and the wonderful connections we

have built—both new and familiar. We look forward to seeing the children begin their Year 3 journey. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

Math

The students have been identifying and showing part–whole relationships using halves, quarters and eighths, including measurement tasks.  We have used real life contexts, lots of exploration using materials.

Inquiry

This week we went on an excursion to support our learning about local history. We visited the Campaspe Run in Elmore and the Rochester Historical Society Before the visit, we developed interview questions based on our wonderings. Following this we enjoyed lunch in the park before enjoying an ice-cream and the Christmas Tree Exhibition.

Today we celebrated our Christmas Community Learning Day 🎄 with so many fun activities, smiles and creative moments—all while dressed in our festive Christmas outfits. The students brought such wonderful energy and joy to every part of the day.

As we come to the end of the school year, I want to acknowledge what a truly special year it has been. Learning alongside one another, watching each student grow in confidence, friendships and skills, and seeing them make positive memories together has been an absolute privilege. Our classroom has been filled with laughter, curiosity and kindness, and I feel incredibly proud of each and every student.

I am so grateful for the continued support from our

families, and for the wonderful help and dedication of the LSO team who make our space

such a nurturing place for all learners.

Wishing everyone a beautiful Christmas and a happy New Year - may it be a time to relax, recharge, and enjoy moments with loved ones. Thank you for a fantastic year 🥰

5/6 Learning Community Update

As we approach the end of the school year, our 5/6 students have continued to shine with their enthusiasm, teamwork and dedication. This week has certainly been a busy one! Students have been putting the finishing touches on a number of major pieces of learning, including their poetry inspired by William Wordsworth’s Daffodils, their Inquiry business proposals, and their creative Religious Education Christmas Cards linked to the Gospel. It has been wonderful to see their confidence and creativity flourish across all areas.

We also enjoyed our Transition Morning, where students spent time in their 2026-year levels and classes. The excitement and positivity were fantastic to witness, and we know our students are ready for the next step in their learning journey.

As we prepare to farewell our amazing Year 6 students, we congratulate them on completing their primary years. It has been a privilege to watch them grow as leaders, learners and kind young people. We wish them every success as they begin high school next year and we thank for their hard work, dedication to learning and all of the fun times.

We are equally excited to welcome our Year 5 students into senior leadership roles in 2026. They have already shown great potential, and we look forward to seeing them step up with confidence and pride in the New Year.

Lastly, thank you to all our families for your ongoing support throughout the year. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and refreshing holiday season.

Warmest wishes, The 5/6 Team
