Auslan

Students are learning Auslan sport signs and linking them to the excitement of the 2025 Deaf Olympics in Tokyo, known as the Deaflympics. They’ve been watching snippets of different sports and parts of the opening ceremony to build real-world connections. Classes are also tracking the medal tally, celebrating Australia’s results; one gold and two silver! This has helps us see how language and global events come together.

Furlong Park School for Deaf Children (FP)

KPS students in Years 5/6 have enjoyed communicating with students from Furlong Park by introducing themselves and sharing a little about their interests. They asked thoughtful questions to learn more about their new friends and even sent a short Auslan message as part of their exchange. It has been a wonderful opportunity for them to connect and build confidence in their communication skills.
