Year 7 News

Welcome to all Year 7 students and their families! This Term Year 7 and 12 students started a day earlier, with the aim to help students settle into secondary school. The first day included a range of activities to help students to settle in and connect with each other. It was great to see students having fun and making new friends.
Starting Year 7 is a big transition. Some students adjust quickly, while others may feel overwhelmed. If your child is struggling, please let us know.
Your child’s form group teacher is a key contact and will build a strong relationship with them through daily morning meetings.
The Form Group teachers are:
7A – Mr Dale Shannon
7B – Mrs Roselyn Lata
7C – Mr Trent Considine
7D – Ms Daisy Tran
7E – Mrs Jessica Wright
7F – Mrs Laura Vonarx & Ms Maia Blair
7G – Mr Rod Kirkwood & Ms Tash Dann
7H - Mr Andrew Schmutter & Mr Liam Price
Year 7 Coordinators for 2026 are Ms Maia Blair and Ms Belle Healey. The Year 7 Leading teacher is Mrs Jess Wright. The Assistant Principal for Year 7 & 8 is Mr Liam Price.
This week students have been provided with a range of information and key dates. These are outlined below:
School photos – Monday 9th February
Swimming Carnival – Friday 13th February at the YMCA
The Year 7 ‘Meet and Greet’ BBQ - Wednesday 18th February.
Invitations will be sent home this week with your child. The evening will start at 5:30pm with Mr Rod Kirkwood running a SEQTA information session followed by a BBQ under the shade sails near the canteen at 6pm. All family members are invited to attend. This is a great way to meet your child’s teachers and friends. Please return your RSVP slip by the 11th February.
If your child is absent from school, please notify the school using the absence hotline on 53817200 or via SEQTA.
SEQTA - This is the name of the online portal our school uses to link students, parents and teachers to enable clear communication of student progress with their learning in all subjects. Families should have received a welcome letter (via email) with login instructions. If you have not received this email, please check your “junk” or spam mailbox, then contact the school admin for further assistance.
If you have questions, contact your child’s form group teacher or Year 7 Coordinators on 53817107. If visiting the school, report to the administration office on arrival and call ahead to make an appointment with the relevant staff member.
We’re excited to be Year 7 Coordinators and look forward to working with students and families throughout the year. Feel free to reach out with any concerns!
