Year 9 News

With a burst of hot weather, the Year 9 team are excited to welcome all our students back to school for 2026! It's been wonderful to see students back at school, re-connecting with friends and settling into their new building in the N wing.
Some reminders for students and families:
Every student must have a lock on their locker. Please ensure your child has a padlock by the end of this week. It's also a good idea to drop a spare key into the Year 9 office, as this reduces disruption if keys are forgotten or lost.
Hats are compulsory for all students in Terms 1 and 4. If students do not have a hot, they will be asked to move to the covered basketball courts adjacent to S wing during breaks. Hats are available for purchase from the administration office for $20.
Change of subject requests - forms must be submitted to the Year 9 Office no later than Friday 6th February. No further subject changes can be made after this time.
Student Opportunity - TAFE Vocational Explorers
During term 1, Federation TAFE is offering opportunities for students to spend a day exploring what TAFE has to offer. Courses on offer for TAFE Vocational Explorers ‘come and try’ day include:
Healthcare Industries
Building & Engineering
Hair & Beauty
Information Technology and Cyber Security
Students interested in participating in these opportunities need to complete the expression of interest form sent via SEQTA. Once we have numbers confirmed, we can then proceed with organising the program.
Subject Spotlight: Sketchy As
Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of arts elective subjects at year 9, covering drawing, animation, photography and 3D mediums. Sketchy as students have begun exploring different drawing styles, materials and techniques. Over the semester, they will produce their own original works incorporating these. Here are some samples of students work from their first week of class:
