Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL)

Throughout this term, the PBL team and staff continue to develop the lessons and social stories that will be used to explicity teach expected behaviours when we launch our new program.
Using student voice from each class' feedback, our Wellbeing leaders have been assisting in cross checking what students and staff think should be included in our lessons and social stories. A student PBL team is also being established beginning with our Year 5s. We are very pleased to see many children in Year 5 wishing to be part of this important work, which will help to develop their leadership skills in preparation for Year 6 leadership positions. These students will also be working to refine the lessons and social stories as well as other imporant tasks during this time.
Yesterday, some of our staff PBL team attended day 3 of our new learning. Each school provided a visual presentation of the work that is being done 'behind the scenes' in preparation for our roll out.
The focus of the project so far has been-
- Preliminary actions- commitment and pre-planning for the project
- Team structures- forming our PBL team and staff meeting plans
- School wide values and behaviour matrix- input from staff, students and parents (vlaues chosen were RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and RESILIENCE)
- Explicit teaching of expected behaviours- planning teaching content and sequences
- Acknowledgement of expected behaviours- developing a school wide system for acknowledgement (yesterday's learning)
Behaviour matrix
Each week at assembly, our Wellbeing leaders announce which behaviour we are going to seek feedback on in the coming week, in order to provide information for our social stories and teaching sequence.
