Years 2-6 School Cross Country Trial

Congratulations to all students who gave it their best at our schools cross country trial on Monday 11th March. We were so impressed with the effort displayed on the day. It was a hot day but with the cooperation of all students we were able to have all age divisions completed by midday. This course was a new experience for students because it was the first time being held at this venue.

The day would not have been possible without our parent  volunteers, teachers and sport captains who contributed to the days success. 32 students have been invited to compete at the Sydney Cross Country Championships on 14th May at Sydney Motor Sports Park. Below are the results from the trial:

Great Whites Legends Rugby League Gala Day - Years 3-6

The Great Whites Legends Gala Day is on Wed 3rd April at The Ridge Sporting Complex, Barden Ridge. This is an optional event and nominations have now closed. We have 100 students attending this event. Please provide consent at your earliest convenience to assist with the planning of this event. Parents/carers are required to arrange transport for their child to and from the ground.

Miss Devlin & Mrs Col will meet with students on Monday 18th March to arrange tackle/tag teams according to what families selected on the nomination form. We will attempt to meet all requests however if your child has been placed in a tag team instead of tackle, this would be due to not having enough to fulfil a tackle team. We will not place any students in a tackle team, if tag only was requested.

The draw will be shared with families the week before the event.

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

The Annual School Athletics Carnival for Years 2-6 will be held on Monday 8th April 2024 at The Ridge Athletic Track, Barden Ridge. The carnival is a fun, school event but also acts as a trial for the Conference 3 Athletics Trial held on Monday 12th August 2024. Our Kindergarten and Year 1 students will participate in a fun sport day called the St Patrick’s Games held at school on a separate day in Term 2.

Please provide consent via COMPASS by Thursday 28th March.

Our carnival will conduct timed/measured events and grade events. Timed/measured events are for athletes with a high level of skill who want to be considered to represent the school at the Conference 3 Trial. Grade events are for students who do not wish to be considered for selection at the Conference trial but would like to compete against students in their own grade. Ribbons/Placings will be awarded for both options.

If you would like to nominate your child for a timed/measured event, please complete this Registration Form by Friday 15th March 2024. After this date the link will expire.

All students must travel by bus to the track. They will be required at school by 8:30am. The carnival will finish at approximately 2:15pm. Students can leave the carnival with a parent/carer or travel back to school by bus. If you are choosing to take your child/children home directly after the event, you will need to sign your child out with their classroom teacher. We will invite parents with an announcement to find your child’s teacher at the conclusion of all events. If an arrangement changes after the electronic permission form on COMPASS has been submitted, please send a note or email to your child’s class teacher as we require this in writing.

If you are available to assist we would greatly appreciate your help. Please register via the Parent Helper Registration Form. You require a WWCC number and will need it verified by Sydney Catholic Schools along with completing the online volunteer induction.

Stage 3 Netball Gala Day plus trial information

The structure for all inter school sporting opportunities was introduced and outlined to all stage 3 families through this information document. If you haven’t had a chance to read this document I highly recommend you take the time to understand the opportunities offered as trial nominations close on Monday 18th March for Stage 3 Netball and Football Gala Days.

The first Stage 3 Gala day will be held on Tuesday 9th April and will be different to all the other inter school sporting opportunities for 2024. Netball is the only sport that has limited team entries. Our school can send one level 1 boys team, one level 1 girls team, one level 2 girls team and one level 2 boys team. On the same gala day St Patricks will also have a unified all abilities team representing us in the sport of European Handball. The level 1 team division can progress to a secondary gala day if  they top their pool. There are no progressions for the level 2 and unified all abilities divisions.

The events for Netball  (Tue 9th April) and Football (Wed 8th May) are fast approaching. We are now accepting nominations to trial for the level 1 team. Please nominate here if your child would like to trial. Unfortunately we cannot accept any late entries into trials and only families who register will receive the details for the school trial. Nominations will close on Monday 18th March.

The in school trial date for Netball will be Thursday 21st March (week 7) and for Football (soccer) will be Thursday 28th March (week 8). Students will need to attend the trial in order to be considered for selection.

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL

Flag Football is an Olympic Sport in 2028 and the NFL is putting a lot of resources Worldwide for the promotion of the sport. Our school will be involved in this program which at this point will be targeted at our current Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 students. Miss Devlin will complete an online course to implement a 6 week program through the PE Syllabus. NFL will also be sending us brand new footballs and 30 flag belts to kickstart this new sport at our school. After the 6 week program our school will look into entering the NSW State Tournament in which the winning team receive a funded trip to Brisbane to compete at the National Cup. The winning primary school of the national cup will continue to receive a funded trip to the Pro Bowl in the US.

We look forward to sharing and promoting this new sport right here at St Pat’s.

COMMUNITY SPORT

Nate R (4P) competes at representative and state level go kart racing and is super excited to have recently won his first race. Nate's passion for this unique sport sends him all over NSW and fuels his need for speed. Each weekend Nate packs his helmet and race suit, loads up his go kart and travels to towns across NSW including Griffith, Dubbo, Wagga Wagga, Orange and Lithgow to compete against other 7-10 year olds at speeds of almost 100 KPH! Nate is in the #19 in the red, yellow, white and black kart leading the pack in the image below. This was in Lithgow where he won his first race. Nate and his racing friends will head to Canberra over the long weekend for the ACT State titles. Good luck Nate!

Ever also attended the Oztag state cup team representing Sutherland U9 team. She did extremely well and made it to the  Grand final ,coming in 2nd overall with an ending score 4-3 . Ever also played up a year in Wagga Wagga for state Cup U10’s for the Cronulla Sharks Touch Team. Lila M who featured in our last newsletter was also a part of this team. Great memories shared with friends on the sporting field.
