Notice of election and call for nominations

Dear Parents/Guardians/Staff/Students,

 

An election is to be conducted for members of the Kambrya College School Council. I warmly invite all parents/guardians and staff to consider nominating. Parents/guardians and staff may self-nominate or nominate others.

 

When considering a nomination to be a School Council Member, please ensure that you/ the nominee will be available to attend the School Council meetings, as attendance at   is essential for the effective operation of the council. Unless otherwise advised, meetings are held twice a term, onsite at Kambrya College on Wednesdays commencing at 6:00pm. The first meeting of the 2024 council is scheduled for 27th March.

 

Timeline

 

Friday, 23rd February – Nomination forms available to all parents via a link in the College newsletter, on our website and in a Compass post, with copies available at our Front Office. Text messages will be sent home alerting all parents. The documents are:

 

•    Form 2 – Notice of Election and Call for Nominations

•    Form 3 – Self-nomination Form for Parent Member Category

•    Form 4 – Nomination Form for Parent Member Category

•    Form 5 – Self-nomination Form for School Employee Member Category

•    Form 6 – Nomination Form for School Employee Member Category

 

Monday, 4th March – All nomination forms, must be lodged at the school front office or by email (kambrya.co@education.vic.gov.au) by 4:00pm. Forms lodged in person at the front office will be confirmed with a receipt. Forms may not be submitted by postal service or be lodged with teachers.

 

Tuesday, 5th March – Nominations are collated. If the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies, a ballot will be called and ballot papers will be prepared for distribution to parents/guardians. A list of candidates will be posted visibly at the front office.

 

Tuesday, 12th March – Ballot papers, including Statements from Candidates will be distributed home via students to parents/guardians.

 

Wednesday, 20th March – Ballot will close at 4:00pm.   All ballot papers must be returned to the front office by 4:00pm. Ballot papers must be returned directly to front office, not via teachers. Ballot papers will be counted as per DET guidelines. Candidates will be contacted regarding results within 24 hours.

 

Wednesday, 27th March – New school councillors will be inducted at the School Meeting at 6:00pm.

Following the closing of nominations, a list of the nominations received will be posted at

the school.

 

If the number of nominations is less than the number of vacancies, a notice to that effect calling for further nominations will be publicised and posted in a prominent position at the school.
