Resource Library News

Welcome to the College Resource Library!

The library would like to acknowledge the great start we have had in the library this term. We are now experiencing the rewards of new library processes being followed by staff and students in making our library space an orderly, calm and welcoming area for you all to enjoy.

THE VALUE OF PICTURE STORY BOOKS

The library has seen the reintroduction of the picture story book section! It has been welcomed again by all year levels and ages, with many staff members allocating a segment of their library time to read to their students or inviting a student to read to the class.

THE LIBRARY AT LUNCHTIME

It is great to experience the cross-age activities and participation happening in the library at lunch times.

Mondays – Chess Club

Wednesdays – Creators Club

Fridays – Silent Library Fridays

BOOK REVIEWS

Students continue to take ownership of the library space. This week students in Years 2-6 have been completing book reviews to add to the inside of shelved books.

This card informs students of recently read resources and gives a recommendation to someone who selects a particular book. Thank you to the many students who have completed these.

LIBRARY MONITORS

Thank you to the library’s wonderful team of library monitors who have shown all the college values in their role within the library. This includes arriving on time each Wednesday lunchtime, showing initiative in shelving books and keeping our resources neat and tidy.

REMINDERS

Library Bags

Prep-2 students have begun library borrowing sessions over the last few weeks. To ensure they are borrowing and taking care of books, students require a library bag. Some classrooms utilise book tubs and reader bags and this is a great alternative. The library has already provided over 40 library bags to students without them.

If any students require a book bag, please contact the library directly.

Returning books

A reminder to all students and parents, students are to return their library books each week to allow them to borrow new books. Books must be kept in their library bags or books tubs in the classroom. For senior students, books are to be kept safely in lockers.

Many thanks,

The Library Team: Jen, Karen, Meg.
