Catholic Identity

PRAYER

Next Sunday at Mass we celebrate the fourth Sunday of Lent.  As we stand to welcome the Gospel we will say words from St John the Apostle:

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so everyone who believes in him might have eternal life. (John 3:16 )

This is without a doubt one of the most popular and well-known verses from the bible and underpins our entire faith.  The wording of the verse changes a bit depending on the version of scripture you are reading, but the meaning is always the same: the son of God, Jesus, came and died for human beings — and belief in that reality will guarantee us eternal life.

PROJECT COMPASSION

Spanning across the six weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion brings thousands of Australian schools, parishes and supporters together to raise funds for Caritas, our Catholic Aid Agency. These much-needed funds help alleviate poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity in the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in the world.  Each class has their own Project Compassion Box, where students can put their donations.  This is a terrific opportunity for children to use some of their pocket money to give to others in the world who are in need of some support.
