Dear Marian Community,

The last few weeks have been filled with the buzz and excitement of a community eager to harness all that 2024 has to offer. As always, our students have continued to engage positively with their learning while also demonstrating their desire to ‘Live the Marian Way’ in all of their daily interactions.

The College joined together to celebrate Ash Wednesday and to acknowledge the commencement of the Lenten period. It was uplifting to observe our Year 12 student leaders actively participate in the Mass through reading, the Offertory procession, distribution of the Ashes and delivery of outstanding musical performances. Our new College Chaplin, Father Connell, encouraged our students to remember that Lent is a time of Reflection, something we consistently encourage our students to undertake whether it be of their faith, learning or social conscience.

Last week Year 7 students completed Best Start testing to ascertain student needs in Literacy. The week ended with a very successful Year 7 2025 Information evening and College tour. A large turnout of parents and students joined us in the Marcellin hall to listen to myself and Mr Damien Herb speak around all of the amazing opportunities offered at MCC. Our College tour was met with enthusiasm, with many families commenting on the outstanding facilities and the positive atmosphere present within the College.

Yr 7 will celebrate their Community Day this Friday with the theme ‘New Challenges, New Victories’ this day celebrates their successful transition to High school and provides them with an opportunity to further develop positive friendships and learning partnerships with their Homeroom Pastoral team.

Our Year 12 Students first Fundraiser on Valentine's Day was a great success and they showed great leadership at our Swimming Carnival, by leading chants, taking part in events and encouraging and supporting younger students to take part in the day. My congratulations goes to Patrick house, for once again, winning the day.

As always there are numerous activities for our whole study body to continue looking forward to. Yr 8 ‘Clean up Australia Day’ activities, Yr 12 Leadership evening, Yr 11 Young women's Leadership Day, St Patrick's Feast Day celebrations as well as our whole school Harmony Day events in Week 8. These events also run alongside numerous opportunities for representative sports, study club, Games group and of course creative opportunities in the lead up to the MCC Cabaret. As always there are ample opportunities for our students to ‘Live the Marian Way’.
