Assistant Principal's Report

This week we welcomed Lauren Jordan, our Social Worker. Lauren will be working closely with our teachers, students and myself. She will spend the next couple of weeks getting to know everyone and building relationships within our school community. I am sure that we will all make Lauren feel welcomed. Further information regarding how to engage with Lauren will be circulated in the next couple of weeks.
Swimming
Congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students for getting through the intensive one week swimming program at GESAC. It ran smoothly. We are exceptionally proud of how our students represent our school. Well done to our staff for all their work and to Mr Wink for his organisation to ensure a positive experience for all. The Year 4 and 6 cohort swim next week.
Staff Professional Development
On Thursday afternoon, our staff participated in another Professional Learning session with Occupational Thearapist, Yakira Abraham from Connect and Grow. Yakira and her team, work and support many of our students and their families. The session was the second in a series on Sensory Classrooms.
Wellbeing
The Education Department website has a great wellbeing page, including a booklet on wellbeing activities and conversation starters for parents of primary aged children. There are a range of activities that can help build and maintain your child’s wellbeing. Most of them are short and require very few materials. The activities cover six key elements that are important to wellbeing. There are also activities that focus on positive thinking and gratitude, as well as breathing exercises that promote calm.
