TOP ARTS EXCURSION

Last week our Year 12 Art Creative Practice students went into the City for an Art excursion. We began at the NGV Ian Potter Centre where students saw the 2024 Top Arts Exhibition; starting with a folio viewing session followed by a self-guided walkthrough the exhibition spaces. The groups also went into ACMI to view The Story of the Moving Image exhibition, and to the Koorie Heritage Trust building to view the Josh Muir retrospective.

The excursion provided an invaluable opportunity for our students to explore diverse artistic expressions from a range of perspectives and see Melbourne’s exciting art-scene in action.

Here’s what our students had to say.

Viewing the Top Arts exhibition, and the student folios on display, was very interesting and helpful.

The exhibitions gave us lots of new ideas for our own tasks moving forward

The artworks on display were really thought provoking (and pretty)!

Myste Grewe

Many of the artworks derived from the artists personal experiences and it was interesting to read about the artists choices and ideas. Some were about their fears, struggles and families.

The excursion displayed a side of art production that isn’t ever taught in conventional school!
