Clean Up Australia Day Sunday March 2nd

In preparation for Clean Up Australia Day this coming Sunday 2nd of March, 4S got together with their buddy class Prep C. We discussed the importance of reducing our waste, recycling and reusing to help clean up, fix up and preserve our environment.

International Competition Ai3

Hello Parents of Roberts McCubbin,

Last year we had a S.T.E.A.M company (AI3) come to our school  and hold an innovation competition.

Since then AI3 is now in an international level of competition for the First Lego League. They are developing a chess environment made for helping kids learn chess and practice against an AI.

You can receive a free beta version of the game when it releases instead of paying.

To sign up please visit: chessisland.ai3.academy

This is a trusted link and is not spam and the chess environment is safe for children.

Trivia Night

An amazing night was had by the 120 people who squeezed into the hall on Saturday night for the 2024 Robbie Mac trivia night! We ate, drank, and argued over how many land borders Finland has. And along the course of the way, we raised over $3,500 for our school, which will go towards a new playground on the sad patch of grass near the 3/4 buildings. So everyone wins!

The rivalry was strong between teams, especially given the parents and carers had a point to prove after the staff table "The Ho Ho Hoes" took out the win in 2022. But this year, it was team "denim ber Ones" who were victorious - congratulations! You'll have to try again next time, staff!

Some other notable achievements: best dressed team was "Rainbow Connection" while Rhett from "Let's Get Quizical" won best dressed individual. There were two winners for the bottle coin toss (see photos) and the lucky $100 square was chosen by Dave Hundt - a huge thank you to Dave for donating his winnings back to the school!

A final plug for our giant list of sponsors: Aqualink, Biome Brickworks, Box Hill Golf Club, BP Portraits, Burwood One, Classroom Cuisine, Dog Grooming By Harry, Dynamic Martial Arts, Eastern Gymnastics, Future Demand Tennis, Genesis Health + Fitness, Graham Psychology, Hoyts Forest Hill, Junior Rockers, Little Raww Prints, Paul Hamer MP, Spartan School World, Surrey Park Swimming, TeamKids, The Chase Hotel, Wattle Park Amcal Pharmacy, Wattle Park Saints Basketball Club and our wonderful school parents the Gargans!

And a big thank you to everyone who helped make the evening possible, particularly Nic, Ranj, Carolyn, Daniel, Dean, Karla, Justin, Tom, Pippa, Yuna, Kathryn, Dave, Coen, James, Eduardo, Elizabeth, Stan, Peter, Steve, Mel, Luciana, and everyone who stacked a table, took a trestle back to the undercroft or did any other thing! It was wonderful to see Samuel, Lena, Ben, Peter, Kate, Kirsty and Team Kids' own Hannah at the staff table too - thanks for supporting the event.
