We are learning to write ballads using the correct structure and features to engage the intended audience.


VOCABULARY

Ballad: A narrative poem intended to tell a story. They can have several verses. Each verse has 4 lines. Sometimes verses may be repeated throughout the poem. They usually follow an ABCB rhyming pattern. 

 

Verse: Writing arranged with a metrical rhythm. 


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Sit with your student and see if you can come up with a list of rhyming words for a topic of their choosing. .

Try to write a ballad about a topic of your choosing. Ensure it tells a story, has 4 lines in each verse and follows an ABCB rhyming pattern.
