Year 9 & 10 Art

Year 9 & 10 Art students have been busy working on their own still life paintings. Using the work of other Australian artists, students were tasked with selecting a still life painting to copy from an Australian artist. Pictured here are some fantastic works in progress. Copying the work of other master artists is a common practice to gain insights into brushwork, colour mixing and composition techniques. Students will then be creating their own still life paintings on canvas using objects that are meaningful to them.

Year 7 & 8 Art

Year 7 art students have been introduced to the darkroom by making the most basic form of photographic imagery. A photogram is created by using real objects of varying translucency placed directly onto black and white photographic paper. When exposed to light the images capture shadows and shapes left by the objects. Year 7 & 8 students have experimented with creating compositions, testing materials to find out what works best, and learning how to develop photographs using analogue techniques.

Year 7 have also just completed a ceramics project using the classic Willow Pattern design as their inspiration. Their own ceramic dishes have been under-glazed using their own version of the willow pattern in the traditional blue colour. Their works will soon be fired again but pictured here are their works before they went into the kiln.
