Experiential Learning
The Year 7 and 8 students have enjoyed the last two Experiential Learning days, focusing on team building. On February 21st, Edenhope Golf Club allowed us to use their course and club rooms. Students worked in groups of four on an orienteering course set up by Mr. Brennan. They then engaged in team building activities emphasizing cooperation and inclusion. Due to the heat, they ended the day with some difficult but fun team challenges in the pool.
On March 6th, students tackled SAS skill challenges at the school pines, related to their study of "Stormbreaker" in English. They played the game Camouflage and built shelters using pine materials. Lilly-Rose expertly managed the sausage BBQ lunch and did a wonderful job. Unfortunately, many of the teams learned the hard way about using rotten timber supports and only one hut was still surviving by lunchtime. The day concluded with pool challenges led by Mr Brennan.

English Revision Lectures
A nice and early start on Friday the 16th of February for our Year 12 VCE English students who I drove to Horsham College to engage in the annual lectures presented by Ross Huggard. We thank Ross and Karen for their presentations on the texts we are studying this year and for sharing guidance to assist our VCE English students in their final year of studies. To our surprise we bumped into Mr Frost who was accompanying Murtoa College and of course a second bump in at KFC! Miss Hardwick
Metal Engineering Elective
In basic metal engineering the students have just cut some tin to make a small media/mobile phone holder. Using a variety of tin snips to cut they, as seen on the picture, put a safety fold around the edges, and another fold in the centre to complete their task.

Basic Mechanics Elective
In first term the students in basic mechanics are gaining some skills and knowledge on the workings of a mower which, for safety has the blade removed. They used problem solving skills to get the mower running and are now in the process to pull the engine down to see how the engine works. Next term they will reassemble the engine and are hoping it will run again. Students will also learn basics in a car from changing a spare wheel and check fluids under the bonnet etc.
