Parent Reading Session

In Term 1 each year, the school provides a session for the parents of the Foundation students to learn how to help their child read at home. They are provided with an insight into how children view reading and how best to support them. There is a lot of time for questions and sharing of how each parent provides time for reading at home. This year we had 11 adults attend, including grandparents, Mums and a Dad. Each family was provided with a ‘toolbox’ of aids to help their child learn the basic sounds and foundations of reading.

Equestrian Program

After a hot start to Term 1 we finally got a nice day to begin our Equestrian program (even though it was still 30 degrees). We had a lovely ride down to the lake and all riders and horses enjoyed the cool down. Thanks Maggie, Nyima, Chloe. D and Lisa for joining us. Looking forward to what the rest of the year has for us in regard to our horse riding.

Please note that Edenhope College and Friends are running the BBQ for this event!

SRC are proud to present FOOD FIGHT fundraiser

On the last day of Term 1 (28th March) the SRC are holding a FOOD FIGHT fundraiser.

Who doesn’t love the idea of a Food Fight? Our school is going to engage in the naughtiest way yet* to boost school spirit and help raise vital funds for Foodbank Victoria. *No ACTUAL food will be harmed in this event.

Hi Edenhope College families,

Our Foodbank Food Fight is coming up in just two weeks! Thank you so much for your support so far. We have already raised $2808 toward our goal of $4000 which will help support the 57,000 people Foodbank Victoria is feeding every day.

As you can see, we still have some work to do, and we would love everyone’s support! It’s not too late to create a profile or start fundraising. Just jump on foodfight.com.au to create your page and get started.

Most donations come from people other than yourself, so please share with as many people as you’re comfortable with!

As we are now 2 weeks out it is important to remind you all of what to bring for the Food Fight:

  • White t-shirt
  • Old runners
  • Shorts that can be coloured
  • Water bottle
  • Towel
  • Change of clothes
  • Old Hat

We are so excited to give you the funnest, messiest day ever!

Thank you so much!

Mrs Tucker, Sierra, Adelle, Kya and Ivy

Immunisation

If you have a child in Year 7 or Year 10 at secondary school in 2024, look out for immunisation information and consent information coming home with your child.

Parents or guardians must complete the consent section on the consent form for your child to receive immunisation.

You can say no to the offer of free, secondary school-based immunisation for your child. If you wish to do so, you should still return the consent section of the form to the school, marked as 'declined'.

When your child brings the information and consent form home, take time to talk with your child about vaccination – why it’s important and how you both feel about it. If you have any questions that are not answered by the information provided within the consent form, contact your GP or your local council immunisation service.

These immunisations are routinely provided free of charge to all Victorian secondary school students.

Students in Year 7 (or aged 12 to 13) receive the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine and the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (whooping cough) combined vaccine.

Students in Year 10 (or aged 14 to 16) receive the Meningococcal ACWY vaccine.

Your child’s school will support your local council to deliver these important immunisations, as part of the Secondary School Immunisation Program. They will communicate with you about upcoming immunisation sessions.

You will receive information about providing or declining your consent for your child to be immunised. You might be asked to do this online, such as through the Central Immunisation Records Victoria (CIRV) portal, or by filling in a consent form.
