Life Ready 2024

On the 27th & 28th February 2024, Narrandera High School’s Year 12 students completed a compulsory PDHPE course at Narrandera Golf Club. 

The purpose of the ‘Life Ready’ program is to elaborate on the topics covered during junior PDHPE lessons. Topics covered include; drug use, safe partying, safe sex, STI’s, methods of contraception, healthy relationships, domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, consent, support services and strategies to adopt when faced with a risky or dangerous situation. The two days are broken up into periods of learning with some fun activities thrown in, which promote team building and cohesiveness of the group. 

Mrs Sergeant and Mrs Donaldson have collected an array of team building games and challenges over their many years of running the ‘Life Ready’ course and Year 12 impressed them with their enthusiasm and willingness to make fools of themselves. These activities break the day up, so that they aren’t just being talked at the whole time and really bring them together as a year group. The learning sessions were informative and the students contributed with excellent discussion and interest. 

Mrs Sergeant and Mrs Donaldson were also very impressed with the maturity they displayed during the more controversial topics. Year 12 would like to thank the Rotary Club of Narrandera and Narrandera High School for their financial support with the running of this worthwhile program. Costs involved include the hiring of Narrandera Golf Club and the catering of morning teas and lunches for both days. Our Canteen lady Jess, caters for the two days and does an amazing job. Her homemade muffins are delicious and were a crowd favourite.
