From the Principal

A very rewarding component of my role as Principal is attending various functions across the College. Before Presentation Evening on Thursday, the Pre-Primary Gold and Pre-Primary Blue students took centre stage while celebrating their Christmas Liturgies.  The Kindergarten students also celebrated the joy of Christmas during their engaging Christmas Concert. As one earnest Pre-Primary reader explained as her Liturgy concluded, her hope was that those in attendance felt better prepared for Christmas by participating. It was a resounding ‘yes’ from me!

I also extend my thanks to all who attended our Presentation Evening, where we were afforded the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our students and also officially launch the College’s new Strategic Plan 2023-2027.

As mentioned in my address last night, our commitment to our Catholic faith, and our Ignatian tradition, underpins every aspect of our new strategic plan. Delivering education in a faith that actively seeks justice is profoundly important to us, as is our deep commitment to respecting the dignity of all people. We are driven to ensure that our students graduate as passionate contributors to their communities who, when confronted with the need to answer life’s difficult questions and face life’s inevitable challenges, they do so well-informed by the values they have learnt during their exceptional John XXIII College education.

Our new strategic plan has been shaped and refined over an extended period by multiple stakeholders. Deep collaboration and consultation have been essential in building and articulating a shared vision for our future. Just as producing the plan has been a team effort, so too we will rely on every member of our community to achieve our ambitions. I sincerely thank everyone involved in the development of our new plan, as well as all members of our extraordinary College community for their ongoing contributions. We look forward to the years of growth and transformation ahead and commend our new Strategic Plan 2023-2027 to you.

We wish our students and staff participating in the Italian and Japanese Study Tours, the USA Basketball and Gold Coast Volleyball Tours well as they immerse themselves in their international and national experiences.

Finally, the Jesuit and Companion Schools Australia (JACSA) Student Leaders’ Conference will be held in Sydney at St Ignatius’ College Riverview on 2 to 5 December. Ms Rita de Faria, Jacob Davila, Gemma Savage and William Parker will be attending, and we look forward to the valuable contribution they will make and wish them well as they depart on the weekend.
