Teaching and Learning

To Our Graduating Students.....

Farwell to Link and Piper, our two Year Six Students. These

two have been great leaders for our school and have represented our school very well throughout the year. They have been given lots of opportunities to practice and demonstrate their leadership skills both within our school and beyond. The staff, students and community wish them well in their future schooling and life outside of school.

P-2 News

Miss Duffy is very excited to be working in the P-2 Room. We have been busy "Getting our Christmas on" and have been using the new book "How the Grinch LOST Christmas" as a mentor text to study.

We have also been working through some Grinch Maths Quests and other Christmas themed measurement activities.

Yr 3-6 News

That's a wrap for the 6 legends in the 3-6 room. As Christmas draws closer we have gathered all of our work samples together to impress our parents. I have a few special people to mention that have been pivotal to our classroom. Lisa, Mez and Bree provide me with all of the assistance, guidance and inspiration that has made this year the most successful that I have had in my 14 years at Raywood. It's a small class, but it is unbelievably productive. To Link and Piper, my work is done, go and make me proud. To Kiara, Lily, Mia, Skylar and our senior room newbie Isabell, have a restful break, you'll need it!

MARC Library News from Mrs Gentry

We finished of our little unit on the Nature Storybooks series last week.

Students have done an excellent job of illustrating their bee books, considering the text on each page.

We had fun making our own little bees to bring home!

Check out our homemade Christmas Trees (made from discarded books and magazines), a photo of our handiwork is located on the top of the Community Page in this newsletter.

Art News from Miss Duffy

This week our students made their own Christmas Bags - for when a stocking just is not big enough! The students drew/traced out a Christmas tree design onto baking paper and then in turn, onto a special ironable material (with all of the Christmas sparkle) and ironed their design onto canvas bags. They then set about enhancing their designs with some silver and gold fabric pens.

Summer Sports

Last Wednesday our Year 3-6 students travelled to Elmore to participate in the Campaspe Small School's Summer Sports. Our students chose tennis and lawn bowls (but could have also chosen cricket and softball). It was wonderful for our students to see their "camp buddies" from the other schools and catch up again as well as enjoy a sport.
