Assembly Item

Our Year 5 students have been busy learning about 3D Shapes. They have created prisms and pyramids using a variety of resources. They have also made nets to match a variety of shapes made and shared them at the assembly last Friday.  Congratulations Year 5.

Transition Graduation

In Week 5 we held a Graduation Ceremony for our Transition students. They received a book, certificate and small gift. Congratulations to Harry, Alice, Poppy, George, Cameron, Eliza, Kelly, Max. Thank you for joining us at Sacred Heart and we look forward to seeing you next year.


Premier's Reading Challenge

This year students at Sacred Heart had the opportunity to participate in the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge. Congratulations to Jack Horwood, Alexis Swain, Aleah Crowley, Ivy Guest, Indianah Hill Smith, Claire Horwood, Frank Plevey, Georgie Rodstrom and Rex Plevey who all successfully completed the challenge this year. 


Newcastle Permanent Primary School Mathematics Competition 

The 43rd Newcastle Permanent Primary School Mathematics competition was conducted in July 2023. Entries were received from 331 schools, with a total of         20, 791 students entered. for the first time, entries were accepted from schools outside the geographical area previously                      covered by the competition.

 

Using real life scenarios, this competition is designed to encourage mathematical education in a fun way. As a statewide competition, it also provides student the opportunity to truly put their knowledge to the test with prizes awarded to first, second and third placegetters for Year 5 and Year 6 students across regional NSW.

 

Through the delivery of this annual competition, many schools use these results as another platform to inform their assessment program.

ASCA SPEECH EXAM

Last Thursday Grace Groves travelled to Willow Tree Public School to complete her Junior Grade 3 ASCA Speech Exam. Grace presented a talk on Cotton, answered questions about her talk, performed a memorised piece and shared with the audience a reading. Congratulations Grace!
