FOR SACRED HEART FAMILIES

SCHOOL SAFETY

Recently we have noticed that parents/carers are dropping their children off to school in areas that are unsafe or in bus zones. Although we do not have a designated School Drop-Off Zone, please ensure that you avoid dropping your child in the Pedestrian Crossing Zone or in the Bus Zones. This is for the safety of all students.

School-age children might seem independent, but they still need a hand. Young children learn how to safely use the road from you. The habits they learn stay with them when they’re old enough to travel alone.

Below is a snippet from the School Safety website. To read the full article click on the School Road Safety link below.

Driving to and from school

  • Make sure your children are in the correct child car seats for their height and age. To be effective, child car seats need to be fitted and used correctly.
  • Drive under the 40km/h speed limit in school zones as these are the busiest times and places.
  • Give way to buses pulling out – watch for bus flashing lights.
  • Always park and turn legally around schools. Avoid dangerous manoeuvres like U-turns and three-point turns.
  • Always give way to pedestrians, especially when entering and leaving driveways.
  • Drop off and pick kids up on the school side of the road in your school's designated drop-off and pick-up area. Never call out to children to cross the road.
  • Make sure kids get out of the car on the kerb side of the road to be away from passing traffic.

AFTER SCHOOL  ARRANGEMENTS

It is of the utmost importance that parents communicate with the school via phone or sending in a note if there are different after school arrangements for their child/ren. It is not always possible to check emails especially if Ms Traynor is away from the school.  If someone other than parents, carers or anyone on your child's collection list is picking your child/ren up during the day, please inform the school of these arrangements. By law we are not allowed to let our students leave with anyone unless communicated by the parents/guardians.  If we do not hear from parents/carers we will assume the normal after school arrangements will apply. Your help with this matter is appreciated.

TERM 4 SCHOOL FEES

Families should have received their Term 4 School Fees via email in Week 3. These statements are emailed directly from Compass. If you did not receive your statement, please contact Ms Traynor in the Office.

PLEASE NOTE: Please ensure that this terms fees and any outstanding fees are remunerated before Friday 24th November (unless you have made alternative arrangements with the school) so that our books can be finalised by the end of the year.

As always if you have any concerns about making payment, please contact Mrs Kathlene Fenton (Acting Principal) or myself at school to discuss this matter confidentially.

LIBRARY BOOKS

As we near the end of the year we would appreciate it if you could get your children to return all library books to school next week so that they can be marked off your child's library borrowing. If for any reason your child is unable to find their library book or it has been damaged please contact the school as the school will need to be reimbursed.
